Allard Hall, MacEwan University’s Centre for Arts and Culture, is a stunning visual landmark for the Edmonton city centre campus. The five-storey 428,000 structure features a modern and vibrant teaching space including classrooms, computer labs, recording and news studios, acoustically engineered ensemble labs, dance studios, fine arts studios, an art gallery, and three performance theatres. Allard Hall’s design emphasizes its identity as a hub for converging ideas and social interaction, with informal learning, performance, and gathering spaces woven into its two main atria. 

Royal Stamp was awarded the contract for fabrication and installation of all interior, exterior, parking lot, and parkade signage. Interior signage included building directories/maps, directional signs, room and classroom ID signs, workstation signs, updateable paper holders, tactile washroom and stair signs, as well as donor lettering and plaques. Exterior signage included illuminated building lettering, wayfinding signage and pylons, illuminated lettering on concrete plinths, as well signage for the parking lot and underground parkade.

Our role involved working closely with project managers and facilities representatives to develop and implement a sign system which would be high quality, durable, attractive, cost effective, and easily updateable. Samples and prototypes were provided, followed by shop drawings, fabrication, and coordinating the installation with site trades and user groups. Engineer stamped drawings were provided for exterior signage and permit applications were submitted. Many last-minute additions were made to the initial scope of work, which needed to be in place for various media and donor events. 

As a result of our work on Allard Hall, Royal Stamp proudly continues to provide design, fabrication, and installation of signage and graphics to MacEwan campus wide on an ongoing basis.
